Privacy Policy

Effective June 15, 2026

Receipt Capture is designed around a single principle: your receipts stay on your device. This policy explains exactly what that means.

Data we collect

None. Receipt Capture does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. The app has no accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting service, no ad networks, and no third-party SDKs that phone home.

Data stored on your device

When you capture a receipt the app stores the following locally, in your device's private app sandbox: the receipt image (if you scanned or imported one); the structured fields extracted from it — merchant, date, total, subtotal, tax, tip, category, line items, notes, and currency code; and the raw OCR text used during extraction (kept so you can re-process later without re-scanning). This data lives in a SwiftData container backed by the iOS file system. It is not synced to iCloud, not backed up to any service we operate, and not transmitted to us or any third party. iOS-level device backups may include the app's container the same way they include any other app's data — that is controlled by iOS and your backup settings, not by us.

On-device AI

If your device supports Apple Intelligence, Receipt Capture uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models language model to extract structured fields from the OCR text. This processing happens entirely on your device. No receipt content is sent to Apple, to us, or to any cloud service for extraction. You can also disable AI auto-fill in Settings and enter receipts manually.

Camera and Photos access

If you choose to scan a paper receipt the app requests Camera access. If you choose to import an existing photo the app requests Photos access. Both prompts appear only when you take that action, and access is used only to acquire the image you selected. Images stay on the device.

Network access

Receipt Capture makes no outbound network requests during normal operation. The app contains no code that uploads receipts, images, or telemetry.

Third parties

There are no third-party SDKs in the app, and no third-party services we share data with — because we don't have your data to share.

Children

Receipt Capture is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect data from anyone. Since the app collects no data at all, this is true by construction.

Changes

If we ever change how data is handled we will update this page and the effective date above. Any change that would introduce data collection would also require a new privacy nutrition label in App Store Connect, which you would see before installing an update.
